Concentrations and health risks assessment of heavy metals in cigarettes within Baghdad city

The risks associated with smoking can be due to the inhalation of toxic substances like heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) that released during tobacco burns. In present study we measured lead Pb three other (cadmium Cd; Chrome Cr; Zinc Zn) by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS). a twenty-five brands cigarettes, assessing potential related health estimated intakes these metals. Related Cancer Risk (RCR) Average Daily Intake (ADI) were calculated. results revealed average values Pb, Cd, Cr Zn concentrations (4.56, 0.39, 3.31 1.36) μg/g respectively. total value four is greater than range cancer risk specified USEPA. Â
